Deconstruction Ad

As a child, Cookie Crisp cereal was always my favorite cereal but my mom didn't get it very often because she usually bought us Cheerios. But whenever she did buy it for us we'd eat up the entire box in one sitting. However, this may have had something to do with there being eight children in my family. Mainly, I liked Cookie Crisp because it was like eating cookies with milk without having to dip the cookies in the milk and leave crumbs in the milk. Because after eating the cookies I'd be thirsty for my milk but I was never able to drink it because it had cookie crumbs in it. Cookie Crisp was the solution to my problem.
I chose this ad as my deconstruction ad because it brings back memories. It reminds me of when I used to wake up on a Saturday morning only to discover that most of my siblings were already up and brushing their teeth. Then we'd all race to the kitchen and fight over who would get which cereal. After fighting for dear life over the Cookie Crisp I'd make my bowl of cereal and all of my siblings' bowls. Then we'd gather around the dining room table and turn on our Saturday cartoons.
ASSOCIATION: Children feel like the commercial is about them individually because all children love cookies and think Cookie Crisp is neat because it allows you to eat cookies for breakfast.
PLAIN FOLKS: The children in the commercial look like regular kids you might see at school or on the playground. An ordinary child wouldn't feel like there was anything special about the children in the ad. Also, the house is very plain and inexpensive looking. Children in real life would feel like they can relate to the kids in the ad on different levels.

Question 13 from Super Bowl Assignment

The Super Bowl allows this type of advertising because so many people are tuned in during the game. The TV station owners probably receive a bonus if their sells go up during and after the Super Bowl. Also, because these companies are usually willing to pay top dollar for the commercial slots. The Super Bowl doesn't care about America's health future. They just want to bring in boat loads of money
